THERAPY PROCESS

Here is a summary of our Therapeutic Process. This gives a detail account of what happens in a counseling session. For the ease in description we refer the client as ‘him’ though we provide the service for both the Gender and Couple.

Phase I: Intake
In the intake process we try to find out what has brought the Client to the session. In the Intake process we try to collect basic information about the client and his family background. This Phase helps us to get a picture about the client and his family. We desire to be extra caring and compassionate as well as non-judgmental which helps the Client to ventilate his problems and trust the Clinical Social Worker.

Phase II: Psycho social Study & Diagnosis
After collecting the basic information about the Client we move to the next phase where we try to understand the Client in detail. We analyze the client and his problems from all dimensions i.e the physical, psychological and social dimensions. We try to find out the various factors that contribute towards the problem of the client and how the current problem of the client is affecting his functioning. We continue to form trust by listening actively and praising the coping skills that have worked for him. We use the various Social Work skills and techniques and to help the client gain clarity.

Phase III: Treatment
Before proceeding to this phase, we would have gathered detail information about the client and his situation which will help us to decide upon the type of the treatment. Depending upon the dimension and severity of the problem the Clinical Social Worker will decide the appropriate intervention strategies. Various therapies and techniques will be adopted by the Clinical Social Worker according to the need of the Client. Frequent reviews help assess whether the approach is effective for the client and that it is helping him to reach his goals. This phase may take several sessions depending upon the progress of the Client.

Phase IV: Termination
Once the Clinical Social Worker feels that there is a progress in the client and the goals have been achieved the Clinical Social Worker will gradually reduce the frequency of the session and the client will be becoming more self reliant and takes up Self Leadership.

Follow up:
Follow up sessions will be arranged to monitor the functioning of the client and whether the client is able to maintain the change.
